| Drew: The Dragon's Keep Crew! |
|
What is the first board or table top game you remember playing? Drew: Probably either Trouble or Hungry, Hungry Hippos as a kid. What was the first comic book you read? D: I think it was an issue of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures--the Archie series for kids What is currently your favorite game to play? D: I don't really have a favorite, but my wife's partial to Settlers of Catan, so we play that fairly often. How about your favorite comic book to read? D: Hmmm . . . too many to choose from. It used to be Thunderbolts until Fabian Nicieza left the book and Warren Ellis took over. So instead of that, I guess I'd have to recommend Marvel's whole X-Men line at the moment. So for those of you who haven't picked up an X-book since the mediocre Scott Lobdell days of the '90s, check out the current X-titles, all of which currently have top-notch creators! Nicieza's Cable & Deadpool is hilarious, as is Peter David's wonderful X-Factor (but what else would you expect from PAD?). Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost are proving to be some of the best new writers in the business over on New X-Men and their recent X-23: Target X mini. Chris Claremont's Exiles, as always, is loads of fun (though probaly not as good as Tony Bedard's run on the book), as is his New Excalibur, and Jeff Parker's X-Men: First Class is a fast-paced, kid-friendly look at new adventures of the original X-Men squad. I'm loving Mike Carey's recent foray into superhero comics, including his work on adjectiveless X-Men. And let's not forget that Ed Brubaker and Joss Wheden are reminding everyone just how great the X-Men can be on Uncanny X-Men and Astonishing X-Men, respectively. Jeph Loeb's Wolverine, unfortunately, is probably the weakest title in the bunch, but I'm enjoying Daniel Way's heavily researched Wolverine Origins, though it may seem a bit slow for some readers. Best movie of all time? D: Well, I'm really into M. Night Shyamalan of late, so I'd have to say either Signs or the Sixth Sense, though my favorites are always subject to change. All time favorite super hero and villain? D: I just love Deadpool, what can I say? Your most embarrassing moment was? D: Hmm. Can't really think of one at the moment (though my wife might be able to). Your favorite band or singer is? D: I have too many favorites to limit myself to just one, but the top ten would probably include They Might Be Giants, Guster, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Phish, Ben Folds, Jars of Clay, and old-school Howie Day (when it was just him, a guitar, and many, many loop pedals). Share with us a word of wisdom: D: "Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday." ~Don Marquis "Humans are the only animals that have children on purpose with the exception of guppies, who like to eat theirs." ~P. J. O'Rourke Just kidding . . . how about: ". . . a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use." ~Washington Irving, from Rip Van Winkle (So be nice, everyone!) What is it that you enjoy most about being part of the Dragons Keep team D: Talking to people about comics! :) |
